Founder: Michelle J. Cen
Michelle J. Cen is an independent art designer, Mi-se porcelain culture protector, museum docent, and a high school senior at Shenzhen Middle School. Originally from Cixi, the historic home of Mi-se Celadon ceramics, she has a deep appreciation for art and culture.
Passionate about sharing heritage, Michelle has served as a docent at multiple museums, including the Mi-se Celadon Museum and Zhongying Street Museum. Her artistic talent extends to crafts and design, and she has further honed her skills through prestigious summer programs such as "Global Culture and Media" at the University of Pennsylvania and “Art Business” at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
Driven by creativity and cultural curiosity, Michelle blends traditional influences with contemporary perspectives in her work.
Co-Founder: Sun TanJun
Tanjun Sun is a descendant of the intangible heritage inheritor of the Mi-se porcelain, currently studying at Ningbo Foreign Language School. He engaged in technical research on Mi-se porcelain and the production of culturally creative porcelain. Studied in an art summer camp in 2024 at the London School of the Arts in the UK, he led a team to engage in celadon cultural dissemination activities. He also wrote a research report on the “correlation between traditional cultural dissemination methods and youth acceptance” and submitted it to China Think Big.

About our story
This initiative was co-founded by two senior high school students, Michelle J. Cen from Shenzhen Middle School and Tanjun Sun from Ningbo Foreign Language School, under the mentorship of Teacher Li Chen, a faculty member at Michelle’s school.

The project was further supported by Isabelle Y. Cen (Grade 11), Tianchen Jiang (Grade 11), and Yijiang Xu (Grade 10). All contributors share a deep connection to Chinese traditional cultures, especially Mi-se porcelain, a traditional Chinese ceramic art.
Mi-se Porcelain
Mi-se porcelain, known as Secret Color porcelain, was once reserved for the royal family and symbolizes the height of Chinese ceramic art in the late Tang and Five Dynasties. Produced mainly at the Yue Kilns, its elegant celadon works spread across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa through trade. Today, sites like Shanglinhu—hailed as the “Outdoor Celadon Museum”—testify to its lasting cultural and artistic influence worldwide.
Culture promotion
Our team promotes Mi-se porcelain through exhibitions, museum classrooms, and campus sharing with domestic and international students. Projects include the Chen Wanli Exhibition, children’s workshops, and creative products like eco-friendly bags and porcelain magnets. By linking tradition with modern life, these efforts spread awareness and inspire younger generations to appreciate and carry forward celadon culture.
Teenager's Pick
Our group promotes traditional enamel jewelry through international exhibitions, university cultural festivals, museum showcases, and corporate workshops, integrating education and hands-on experiences for children, students, and adults. Enamel pieces were also used to raise breast cancer awareness via hair donations and gifts to patients and volunteers. In the BPC Challenge, teams developed strategies to bring cultural heritage into modern life, including collaborations with the Palace Museum, Chanel, and Haidilao, achieving top rankings and engaging diverse audiences in creative presentations of traditional Chinese arts.
About Us
Our members come from Shenzhen and Ningbo, spanning different ages. They integrate traditional craftsmanship with modern education, environmental awareness, and creative arts, engaging diverse audiences and youth in preserving and innovating celadon heritage. The team combines expertise in enamel jewelry, celadon production, cultural dissemination, economics, and music, fostering cross-disciplinary learning while strengthening public appreciation for Chinese cultural traditions.
